Sacred Family

One more gig this year! This Sunday, October 3rd, is the Peruvian procession at Sacred Family on Detroit Avenue. Step off is after Noon Mass, about 1:30pm. Please try to arrive between 1-1:15pm.

Hope to see you there!

St. Rocco report (belated!)

Hello!

I've added a link to subscribe to posts via rss, or, if you are a Google user, you can join via 'Google Friend Connect' to help keep track of activity here on the blog. :)

At the beginning of September, we played at St. Rocco's annual festival. Although we had an unusual group of instruments, we survived the night! It was a little chilly Saturday night:

Sunday was slightly warmer, but not too warm-perfect for a procession.

I love this image to the right even though we are stopped waiting for fireworks, you can see the rest of the procession and the church in the background.

The evening wasn't too bad weather wise, and thankfully, the midges were not in full force yet. (ever try playing an instrument with bugs flying in your mouth? Not fun!) Here's Rich showing a couple of young fans how to play a tune on the clarinet.

Of course, you can't forget the Zeppoli!!

Ahhh, Italian fried dough-no one makes it like the folks at St. Rocco's. (We do love the Zeppoli!!) :)

Overall, not a bad weekend. Although we have one more gig this year, this was our last sit down gig for the season.
(breaktime!)

As I mentioned, we have one more gig this year-the Peruvian procession at Sacred Family, this Sunday starting after the 12pm mass. Til next time!! :)

St. Rocco's

Hello everyone!

Don't forget we will be playing at St. Rocco's 96th annual Festival this weekend!

Saturday evening: starting at 7:00pm

Sunday afternoon procession: 1:00pm
Sunday evening: 7:00pm

Here are a couple of pictures from last year:
If you recall during the Feast, we had our picture in the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Unfortunately, all you saw of Nick was his hand. Here's a picture to prove he's more than just a disembodied hand:

Nick, our fearless leader, handing out music

Here's a group shot-I believe this was taken at the end of the procession:

Hope to see you there!

Welcome to our first post!

Hello! Welcome to the new home for the Italian Band of Cleveland. This is still a work in progress, but hopefully there will be more updates soon!

For the time being, check out our 2010 schedule to find where will be performing for the rest of the summer. Forgive the disorganized look-the layout I tried didn't work exactly as planned. I will be reformatting so it will be an easier read within the next couple of days.

This weekend we will be at St. Rocco's on the west side to play for their festival, Saturday and Sunday starting at 7:00pm, with a procession at 1:00pm Sunday afternoon. Hope to see you there!

[update: Fixed the schedule page-should be easier to read now. :)]
